Applause Home Care had the honor of co-sponsoring the 1st Annual Bergen Volunteers “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” community event. More than 300 neighbors filled the room with a shared purpose: to make sure local community members have the essentials they need this winter.

From the moment volunteers arrived, the space was buzzing. Long tables were covered with supplies, people were working shoulder-to-shoulder, and every corner of the room felt like teamwork in motion. Together, we assembled care packages that included:

• Snack packs and toiletries for daily comfort and hygiene
• Cold-weather bundles like gloves, hats, and warm clothing

It was inspiring to watch so many individuals come together with one goal: helping neighbors through practical support and genuine care.

Caring for seniors and families in Northern New Jersey is about more than the services we provide in the home. It’s about building a community where people can feel safe, supported, and respected, especially during times of need.

Bergen Volunteers has long been a steady force in our area, connecting people to resources and opportunities that strengthen lives across all ages. We’re proud to stand beside them and help support the work they do every day.

My goodness, this was an event! Community care doesn’t happen in one way; it happens in hundreds of small, meaningful actions. Every packed bag and every folded pair of gloves adds up to something powerful.

We’re grateful to Bergen Volunteers for inviting us into this effort, and to every person who showed up ready to serve. Your time, generosity, and compassion made a real difference.

Jim Prussak

CEO at Applause Home Care

During the latter part of his successful 25-year career in control functions within the financial services industry, he volunteered in to assist elders in the community. The satisfaction and CARE that Jim RECEIVED from helping others in the “encore” of their lives helped him to learn about CARE PARTNERING not just “care giving”. These experiences also made Jim reconsider what he wanted to do with the rest of his career and life. Jim holds a BS Degree from New York University in Accounting and Finance and an MBA from Fordham University. He is also a Certified Homemaker-Home Health Aide by the NJ Board of Nursing and a Certified Public Accountant in New York.
