The recent article shares how Applause Home Care is supporting the Alzheimer’s Association New Jersey Chapter Walk to End Alzheimer’s, sponsoring five Walks across New Jersey: Mercer-Middlesex, Bergen-Passaic, Monmouth-Ocean, Essex-Hudson-Union, and Northwest New Jersey.

For the Applause team, this cause is closely connected to the individuals and families we serve every day. Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia affect not only the person living with the disease, but also the family members, friends, and caregivers supporting them.

A Cause That Touches So Many Families

More than 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, while nearly 13 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Here in New Jersey, more than 190,000 people are living with Alzheimer’s, supported by approximately 272,000 caregivers.

These numbers are a powerful reminder of why continued awareness, support, advocacy, and research matter.

The Meaning Behind the Promise Garden

One of the most moving parts of Walk Day is the Promise Garden Ceremony, where participants carry flowers representing their personal connection to Alzheimer’s.

Each flower color has a different meaning, honoring those living with the disease, those who have lost someone, caregivers and supporters, and the shared hope for a future without Alzheimer’s.

Seeing those flowers come together is a beautiful reminder that while every family has its own story, thousands of people are standing together for the same mission.

During the latter part of his successful 25-year career in control functions within the financial services industry, he volunteered in to assist elders in the community. The satisfaction and CARE that Jim RECEIVED from helping others in the “encore” of their lives helped him to learn about CARE PARTNERING not just “care giving”. These experiences also made Jim reconsider what he wanted to do with the rest of his career and life. Jim holds a BS Degree from New York University in Accounting and Finance and an MBA from Fordham University. He is also a Certified Homemaker-Home Health Aide by the NJ Board of Nursing and a Certified Public Accountant in New York.
